The American cockroach (P. Americana)

Features
• Length: large-sized, 30-40 mm.
• Color: reddish brown.
• Wings: cover the abdomen in both genders, and are longer in males in particular.
• The first section of the pronotum has 2 dark spots.
• It is rare for adults to use their wings, though they have the ability to fly.

Life Cycle
After mating, the female places the egg case on a wood surface, into sands or in some foods to protect the ootheca from dehydration.

Habitat & Behavior
They live in kitchens and restaurants, and feed on waste food. They prefer high temperatures of 36-38 oC and avoid the sun light. They can also sense sonic, motions and vibrations, using a particular knuckle in their legs.
Risk to Humans
American cockroach can trigger allergic reactions, if they walk on your body. They can also pick up some bacterial diseases such as: Protozoa, Dysentery and Gastroenteritis, from one place to another, as a result to their feeding method.
