Brief Information
The House Mouse is a worldwide pest that lives near to humans. The border between Iran and Russia is considered the original habitat of the house mouse, from which it moved to the Arab Gulf countries and the Mediterranean region, then to Europe and America. Because of the small size of the House Mouse and its need to small quantities of food, it spreads around the world from the tropical to polar regions, wider than other rats. It often lives inside houses, grain stores, and usually lives on the ground, but it has good climbing skills; it searches for food near its terrier, where it is not deep with relatively large nests consisting of paper and torn clothes. It has its food, during its movement at night. The House Mouse can spread and escape from its enemies, because of its small size, ability to climb and thirst endurance. So, it can enter containers, clothes bales, holes in small houses, and between books to build its nests. It tends to build its nests as hollow balls, consisting of papers and torn clothes in dark untracked places and in food stores. It can build nests containing a lot of mice up to 40, especially in the breeding season; it weighs 20 g, and length including tail (12.5- 10.2 CM), where the body is (7-10.8 CM), the tail (4.2-10.2 CM), back’s color is brown or grey.
